Hello! We are the UK Cube Association and we are a completely volunteer-ran organisation that hosts all cubing competitions in the UK. We are made up of a team of WCA delegates and staff, and we're passionate about giving people as many opportunities to compete in the UK as we can. We have organised over 100 competitions up and down the country with many more on the horizon and are always trying to find new locations to make cubing competitions as accessible as possible.

Q: How do I register?
A: Follow the menu bar to the Register page and carefully follow the instructions. Make sure to input your T-shirt size for your competition T-shirt as your registration comment. See the T-Shirt Sizes tab for a sizing guide.

Q: Do I have to pay extra for additional events?
A: No! Your registration fee covers you competing in as many events as you would like to and meet the qualification standard for.

Q: I am a first time competitor. Can I come here to compete?
A: Unfortunately, this competition is only open to people who have been to a competition before. You can see all our upcoming competitions at wca.ukca.org if you would like to attend a local competition to qualify for this one.

Q: Can I come only to spectate?
A: Yes! There will be a £5 spectator fee; please see the Guests, Spectators, and Media tab for further information.

Q: Can I register for events I don't yet qualify for?
A: No. If you do later achieve the qualification standard for an event, you can add the event to your registration via the competition registration page. You must make any change to your registered events by October 22nd at 7:00pm.

Q: How fast do I have to be to compete?
A: Please see the Events tab for the qualification times for each event. These times must have been achieved at a WCA competition. Please note the only requirements to qualify for the events of 3x3, 2x2, Pyraminx, and Skewb are having completed an average in the event at a competition before. All qualification times must be added to your registration by October 22nd at 7:00pm in order to compete.

Q: How can I change my events?
A: You can change your events via the registration page. You must make any changes to your registered events by October 22nd at 7:00pm.

Q: What do I do if I need an accommodation in order to compete?
A: Please contact us if you need an accommodation, for example if you’re unable to compete for part of the competition due to a religious observance, or if you have a physical or medical condition that impacts your ability to compete on-stage. The deadline to request accommodations is October 22nd, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Q: Is the schedule finalised?
A: The schedule is tentative and is dependent on final registration numbers. We might make minor changes in the leadup to the competition, but will be sure to inform you of these.

Q: What time do I need to arrive?
A: We anticipate long queues to get into the venue, so please arrive at least 30 minutes before you are scheduled to compete.

Q: Do I have to be there on all days?
A: No, you only need to turn up on days you have events on. You can see what days your events are on on the Schedule tab.

Q: How do I find live results?
A: You can see live results as soon as they're entered at WCA Live.

Q: What do I do if I can no longer attend?
A: Please contact us. If you inform us you are no longer attending before October 22nd at 7:00pm then you will receive a 50% refund. If this time has passed then you will receive no refund.

Spectators and Guests may attend for a fee of £5. This fee grants you access to the venue over the entire weekend.

Wristbands for Spectators and Guests

A fee of £5 for a guest wristband will be due for all spectators and competitors' guests. Wristbands are available on the door, payable via cash or card. Wristbands were previously available for advance purchase from the UKCA Store but this pre-sale period has now finished.

This wristband must be worn as long as you are planning on attending over the weekend. If you don't, you will have to repurchase another wristband. The wristbands are vinyl and waterproofed, so there's no need to take them off for a shower!

Please note that we take no responsibility for any competitors left unsupervised.

Other guest information

Spectators may attend with or without a competitor. There is no need to inform us beforehand if you would like to attend. We are expecting long queues on Saturday morning as everyone registers, so if you're planning on attending, we recommend you purchase your wristband early, or the day before if you want to skip the queue.

They will have a stall set up selling a variety of different puzzles and cubing accessories.

Mini Games

The UK Cubing League will be hosting several exciting Mini Games over the weekend including a cubing bingo as well as several other fun games! Head over their stall whenever you wish to grab a sheet of paper and begin playing. Try and score as many points as you can!

Unofficial Events

The UK Cubing League will be hosting unofficial events during the competition. No prior registration or qualification is required. Competitors will have three attempts to make the cut-off. Competitors must bring a volunteer judge in order to compete.

Sudden death means that everyone will be solving at once, with the slowest person getting knocked out until only one person remains.

Additionally, students and alumni of the participating universities will be able to compete in Round 2 of the UKCL University Cup. Live results for that will be available here.

In addition to standard WCA Regulations, the following rules apply to unofficial events:

Face-Turning Octahedron: The regulations are identical to standard speedsolving events.

3x3x3 Team-Blind: The event is contested by teams of two. The team may communicate during and after the pre-inspection. The solver must wear the blindfold before the start of pre-inspection. The caller may touch the puzzle during the pre-inspection, but not during the solve. A blindfolded competitor starts the timer and solves the puzzle with the guidance of their non-blindfolded teammate. During the solve, the caller may not touch their teammate below elbow level. The competitors may alternate roles between attempts.

3x3x3 with Oven Mitts: Oven mitts will be provided by the organisers and must be worn before the start of pre-inspection.

3x3x3 Team-Relay: The event is contested by a group of two solvers using two cubes. The team may communicate during and after the pre-inspection. Both solvers should place one of their hands on the timer to start and finish the attempt. Solvers are required to swap cubes after each step of the solution.

CFOP: Cross / First Pair / Second Pair / Third Pair / Fourth Pair / OLL / PLL
Roux: Square / First Block / Second Square / Second Block / CMLL / EO / LR
ZZ: EO Line / First Pair / Second Pair / Third Pair / Fourth Pair / OLL / PLL

It is permitted to use advanced techniques to reduce the number of swaps (WV, VLS, ZBLL, etc.). If using a method other than CFOP, Roux, or ZZ, the team should employ a swap scheme that includes at least six swaps.

3x3x3 One Side: The puzzle is considered solved if any one of the puzzle’s six sides is solved.

2x2x2 One-Handed: The regulations are identical to 3x3x3 One-Handed Regulations.

The venue is the Coventry Building Society Arena in Coventry. The arena has established itself as one of the UK's leading international venues for a variety of events, attracting more than 1.3 million visitors a year, and we're happy to call it the home of Rubik's UK Championship 2024!

Travel

Car: Coventry Arena is easily accessed from the M6 Motorway, which has easy connections to almost anywhere in the UK via the M1 and M5. The postcode for the venue itself is CV6 6AQ.
Train: Coventry Arena has its own train station, situated on the Coventry-Nuneaton Line. The Coventry main station is easily accessible from London (Euston), from Birmingham (New Street) and from various other stations across the UK rail network. As an alternative to catching a train from Coventry to Coventry Arena, local buses are frequent from the city centre, see below.
Plane: Coventry Arena is only 10 miles from Birmingham International Airport. From there, you can catch a train or a bus to Coventry frequently. You should be able to catch trains from most major UK airports to arrive at Coventry also.
Coach: Coaches via National Express call in Coventry on many routes, you can see all direct routes into Coventry here. Other coach services include Megabus
Bus: For information regarding local buses to Coventry Arena, see the National Express Coventry site.

Arena Parking

On-site parking will be £16.50 per day. If you wish, you can pre-book this online here or it is alternatively available on site at the kiosk machines.

The car parks available to Rubik's UK Championship 2024 guests are Car Parks B and C.

From Car Park B, walk clockwise around the arena to the South Entrance. On entry, Hall 2 is the closest Hall.
From Car Park C, you must cross the pedestrian bridge across the A444, and enter through the South Entrance
